I Need to Declutter Again
I've been feeling for a while that it's time for another physical and digital declutter.
I have too much stuff. I accumulate some of it hoping that it will bring me joy, some of it because I think I might need it sometime in the future, and some of it because I don't know what to do with it and don't want to deal with it.
But I need to work on it because digital and physical clutter tends to affect my mental health negatively.
My home office is the obvious first place to start. I have already gotten rid of one of my big IKEA Kallax shelves and downsized my music physical media collection considerably. But I still have a lot of gadgets and knick-knacks that I need to consolidate, find a better place for, or let go.
I need to cut way back on the technology. Just having the extra devices around makes me want to use them – to find a reason to keep them – when it's really unnecessary.
And I probably need to get set of drawers for the desk in my bedroom so I can at least keep things organized and contained instead of spread out on the desk.
Going to start on the office today and see how much progress I can make. I'll need to think through the technology stuff in a separate post.
